Sool Park Receives International Literature Award for Translation

Sool Park, the co-founder of Beyond Clarity, has been awarded the International Literature Award (Internationaler Literaturpreis – Haus der Kulturen der Welt) for 2025, together with co-translator Uljana Wolf.

The award recognizes their translation of Kim Hyesoon's "죽음의 자서전" (Autobiography of Death) into German as "Autobiographie des Todes." The International Literature Award is a prestigious German literary prize awarded annually by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the foundation "Elementarteilchen" since 2009. It honors outstanding works of contemporary international literature and their first translation into German.

The award ceremony and announcement were made by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt on July 17, 2025. This recognition highlights the importance of translation as a creative act of bridging the impossible gap between languages and cultures, a theme central to Beyond Clarity's exploration of how meaning moves between discrete linguistic systems and continuous experiences.
